Thanks guys
taken alot of man hours unfortunately lol, The hair has taken alot more of the time than i would have liked lol. I have attempted a few characters before but they are improving each time i attempt it so hopefully given enough experience i can create some really interesting creations lol :stuck_out_tongue:

@Jeannot, you absolute legend! thanks dude you have been a massive help  will watch it now and hopefully get a good hairdo going on lol.

Amazing, i always had great difficulties with particle hairs, it never looked how i wanted it to look due to my complete lack of combing ability, but the tricks with mid or end points that i never noticed until now is tremendously usefull.

Thanks for sharing, but you should repost this in the Tutorial section :
http://blenderartists.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?32-Tutorials
So more people can see this very helpfull collection of tricks.

bacon: you are welcome my friend

Sanctuary: I did it should be approved by now, but I cannot upload the .blends for some reasons :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Blending

i have just watched the video and all im going to say is legend!
lol thanks for that, its really given me an insight into your workflow and shown me where i was getting it wrapped around my neck lol.
Sanctuary is right, should definitely post it in the tutorial section  can imagine alot of people would find it useful especially some of the extra tips you have included

bacon: LMAO its not really legend, its not rocket science :stuck_out_tongue: But thanks  I already posted in the tutorial section, its already there, its called Blender Hair Tutorial with .blends

And I can’t wait to see what you are going to come up with for hair on your character

Happy Blending

well i havent redone the main body of the hair yet but the material settings themselves have made a world of difference lol i have redone the lashes and brows with the main mesh as the emitter and all looks good so far lol.
i am using your fake AO tip to otherwise the render time jumps to a ridiculous time even though my computers pretty powerful lol
will update it with an image once its uploaded :stuck_out_tongue:

last update for the night.

Was playing about with the hair following Jeannots tutorial and although it needs work i think its looking quite becoming :stuck_out_tongue:

I like it, nicely done  she has an 80’s hair style

bacon: very nice  looks like you are having fun  That’s the entire part where you can say, hey, this is fun. Try giving her an afro, some waves, some dreads, etc… Experiment with it and learn at the same time  That’s the trick though, play with it, make some tests, learn from it, then you will be able to create whatever your imagination sees fit

Happy Blending

ah i think i have may run into a slight flaw with that style which is disappointing lol. The coat/gown lol, well mainly the hood lol :S it clips through the hood everywhere lol :S just tweaking it at the moment to see if i can get around it lol

Bacon, depending on how you add the hoody, if you use cloth, you can actually get around by calculating dynamics, make sure you character body mesh as well as the head has a collision (Make sure its the last one in the modifier stacks after you put it on in the physics tab, then also add a colision to your cloth, make sure you paint dynamics on your hair, and give that a try, it may work or not since this is a very vague explanation :S another way would be to have a second hair due, simple duplicate the one you have, and when you have your hoody on, you can switch to the other one. Now it’ll be a bit of after render compositing, but that could work too.

Anyhow, try to be creative with your process, you may discover really cool ways of faking things

Happy Blending

Very nice hairstyle , confirming indeed that Bonnie Tyler had her haircut manufactured with Blender already at the time

Hi guys, progress was slow yesterday but although it still requires some tweaking i am happy with the overall style as i can keep it consistent between shots of the hood up and down lol. Will still keep tweaking as i go but at least now I can go and tweak the textures and hopefully get the seams less visible

Aaaahhh! Very nice  Good job bacon  Perhaps making a few more variations of colors in her hair and bring down the specular of the hair shader a bit down, but all in all, this looks awesome man

Happy Blending

Hot pink ftw. Do it, you know you want to.

lol just for you mack :stuck_out_tongue: i have toned down the spec to half the value now also :stuck_out_tongue: just working on the textures and tweaking things again now lol. Once this lot is out the way i can move onto rigging etc :stuck_out_tongue:

bacon: that looks pretty good  Not the pink one though :P, I hate pink color, although I do like Pink the singer

Keep at it, its looking great

Happy Blending

lol im not sure about the pink either lol was nice to see how it would turn out but i dont think it suits the character lol

last update for tonight  just been tweaking textures mainly fixing seams etc etc. skin is all sorted now
i think for the gown i am going to have to paint it inside blender in order to get the seams to line up properly especially with the camo texture lol. Realised i havent painted the blade yet either so thats one more job i need to finish before i move onto rigging her up
hopefully then will get to set some cloth dynamics on the go also :stuck_out_tongue:

@Jeannot Landry wth dude? pink the singer? give me a break :stuck_out_tongue:

Character looks awesome.
