Couldn’t get the other one.
But you could use real photographs as reference pics.
Try the-blueprints.com or suurland.com. If they haven’t got what you need, use google and look for car clubs that specialize in those models. Oh, yes, and 3D Center if you read Russian (or even if you don’t, it’s easy enough to navigate.)
yeah, thx…
but i still have 1 problem: even if i download the blueprint (all of them), see my image and you will see, that the curve representing the front light fits in the front and side view, but how the hell should i modify it that it would fit the Top view as well?!
maybe it’s my mistake, but can you tell me?
thanks
Hi,
I’ve been modeling from blueprints quite a bit and I’m sorry I can offer my sympathy but not a lot of help: Blueprints are often plain wrong. Having two views match and the third one out of scale is no exception but rather the norm. Good blueprints are rare and hard to come by, the 3-view stuff circulating the internet usually leaves a lot to be desired.
I’d suggest to grab as many photo references as you can get and decide from case to case which drawing is the most precise.
Good luck!
you can move the image if you’re using it as a background, just adjust the x and y offset values.
2 bartleby: ok, thx… but i’m sad of this, because as my first2cars (350Z and Supra) had correct blueprints
2 venge: doesn’t help…
2 others: i just read the 8th issue of belnderMag (the one specialized for car modeling), so i’ll try something with that…
thx 4 all answers
I’ve been working on a model of my own car (an '06 [american] Honda Civic), trying to work between a blueprint and reference pics I took myself. Problems: the blueprint doesn’t have a rear view for me to get the trunk (boot?) lid and tail lamps. It becomes a problem of perspective, I think, when I try to use the ref pic of the back of the car, compared to the blueprint image (front, top, side). I can’t get the ref pic to line up properly. As a result, it has taken me much more time and effort to approximate the rear of the car in the model.
I realize now, it’s going to be a matter of the view in my render, but it might be nice to be able to pan over the whole car in an animation., as well as getting towards a goal of modifying it (when I was a kid, I did plastic models and got into “kit bashing”, making roll cages, etc.).
I’ve thought about using a plane with a UV image on it to place strategically, and then work from the perspective view, anybody tried this?
Ok, no response. I started with a couple tuts, one being the French Porsche model, but it got to that point of turning corners that has continued to stump me. Having a little (very) experience with AutoCad, I went more towards outlining the thing first, using the fewest vertices’s practical. Then I was better able to move up and match them, subdivide, and get the angles to match. And then make faces. Far from easy, but more accurate. I begin to appreciate how the gang at Pixar start with clay models, then laser scan the vertices and move from there. The model is still far from presentable (I’m no pro, got lots of other priorities in my life), but it is coming along. Cheers!
