Hi,
got a question in my FB group about how you should create hard and transparent plastic, so I did some tests and found out a really simple node tree that worked great for it, so I thought that I could share it here as well.
The findings:
-
Use both roughness and transmission roughness
-
Use input “Layer Weight” (facing) to add more color and roughness on edges.
-
Set IOR to around 1.35 to 1.4
-
Add an area lamp in front of the object that shines through that does NOT have “Cast Shadow” and “Multiple Importance” checked.
To test it out I got a ref. image, but I just followed it loosely (don’t even know what it is) so I could have “something” to test… but here is my rendered image (first), the ref. image and the small node tree;
