Once again trying to imaging what exoplanet HAT-P-7b (discovered in 2016, I believe) could look like on the surface. Perhaps even have crystalline based life forms existing there. Life always finds a way! This time I used Gaea to generate the landscape. (If it’s giving you trouble try the Bleeding edge version v1.2.1.5 which seems way more stable on my PC). Still trying to master bringing in/using the textures in Blender but getting there. Will keep at it it’s fun to image what other worlds might look like. Anyone have a preference?
You made a very free interpretation of the planet. In reality, HAT-P-7 b (discovered in 2008) is a gas giant like Jupiter. Your rendering would be “possible” at two locations: on the surface of the planet’s core or on an hypothetical moon.
You can get more information about the planet here
Yes, true indeed a very “free” interpretation. I would love to be able to do a volumetric type of planetary layered atmosphere but just trying to do a basic volumetric sky drove my poor old PC into the ground. Thanks for the link!
Well, it’s generally not a good idea to do volumetrics on the whole scene unless you have a server room. Best practice is to do it in a sphere not exceeding 20 meters in diameter.
