Exporting models to other programs

(Rhysy 2) #1

Two related questions :

  1. When saving a model in vrml/dfx format (NOT videoscape - Blender crashes when I try that), can I save the materials along with it ? I have seen lots of posts explaining that you can import materials with models, but I want to export them. My problem is that I want to save the model in vrml/dfx, then convert to 3ds whilst maintaining materials. When I try saving in vrml/dfx, the model looks plain white even in Blender.

  2. Can I use models in terragen, and if so how ? I have seen (I forget where) what appeared to be an environment-mapped sphere over a nice terragen landscape. How can I do this ?

Disregard the question about terragen - I found out.

I’m still waiting for an answer to Q1 though… please help !

Sorry, but that’s pretty useless…I need to save the MATERIALS, not textures.

I think, procedural textures of Blender is hard to export…
But I love the procedural textures…

I want to export M-A-T-E-R-I-A-L-S, not T-E-X-T-U-R-E-S !!!

Or am I being very silly and using incorrect terminology ?

You can’t export materials. What would you need to do that for anyway?
