Extremely Distorted Mesh


I’m having difficulty getting this UV unwrap to work properly; the hands and head are extremely distorted. I’ve tried quite a few things to fix it: checking normals, removing doubles, erasing one side of the model and mirroring, re-seamed (many, many times), but it still won’t turn out right. The body is distorted too, but only a little, the biggest things are the hands and the head.

I’ve seen that people recommend using either conformal or angle, but I am using blender 2.6 and i cannot get the “F6” button to do anything. If anyone has any tips, I’d greatly appreciate it.

use more pieces. usually i split the head right down the middle, or even into quarters. seams are not a concern ever since we got projection painting. you can also use proportional editing and real time optimization.
