Extruding a shape made with a bezier curve?

Hi all,

I’m trying to model a stick of deoderant (don’t ask why) and it’s easy enough except for the bottom where the spinny thing is; the plastic leaves a circle shaped gap with two roundish parts on either side of the spinny circle. I made the main smooth body first and then was planning on using Bezier curves to extend it and leave the circle shape intact where my spinny thing would fit nicely. I got the bezier curve shape I wanted, closed and all, but I’m not sure how to extrude it like a normal 2d shape, it doesn’t seem to be working like I would think it should.

Any help? Thanks!
