I have re-opened an old project I started a while ago. It consist of an F1 track with some f1 race cars to go with it. I have reposted this because my old links are gone and dead. So here you are.
I made MANY improvements to the model and texture from my original post.
Here is an in game shot. No rendering.
Some spots I need to remove some polys. Mainly around the front area.
Here is the texture. Still a WIP, there are a few things I want to fix. So small you cant notice, but I can.
Wheel back and front
And here is teaser shot of the new and improved track I am working on. More on this one later.
Are you planning to include cockpit view? I just noticed there’s no cockpit, but perhaps you left it out intentionally to reduce polycount. There seems to be some unnecessary polys on the front wing, nose and tires. Other than that, it is one of the best car models I’ve seen in BGE. The track looks good too. Are you going to use Bullet physics?
I looked at the model and the extra poly problem. The savings really is not worth my time to correct. The car is pretty low poly as is so I am going to leave it alone. As far as Dash cam. No. I never use it in games and since this is my game I think it would be one of those time-consuming-extra-bs-kinda-things that makes games hard to finish.
I want to get textures and the track done more than a steering wheel. Dont worry. I have plans for 3 more cars. Miller Lite. Budweiser and the Official Blender car. Complete with Semis, Trailers, and pit crew.
Any chance you can post the blend file for the car? I can do it for you if I have the time if you want me to. Also, what kind of car pysics are you planning to use for the game?
Nitty - Yeah I will decide that after I get done with the modeling and start rigging. More than likely I will. Sure you can have the blend! I will post the entire game blend and all when I am done.
looks cool… just a suggestion for the wheels… I would put the disc brakes on an alpha plane behind the wheel spokes… then include an alpha hole for the spokes. Otherwise the disc breaks will be rotating with the wheels… which will look pretty weird. It doesn’t use that much more geometry and it creates a nice bit of faked depth and realism.
Yeah I did notice that Kirado. Thanks may do that. The wheels are separate and I can add more detail to them. I just got me a REAL car a 1970 Ford Torino GT Fastback… So I am pretty busy working on that. I may work on this tonight and post the new wheels.
nice wheels!.. yeah in racing games your gonna be looking at them a lot so more detail on them is a must usually… they really add some nice depth to the model
