Face distortion - subsurf

Hi all :slight_smile:

I modeled a cup from a half UV sphere and extruded the handle etc etc
I then added a face to the insides where the handle leaves the main body - problem is that when subsurf is applied it distorts the face (I guess because of the edges behind) - is there anyway to overcome this so the inside is smooth.
Do I need to extrude the whole of the inside to give it thicknessaway from the handle (that make sense? :¬/ )


Yes, you need an inside surface and outside surface. It would be pretty easy to just extrude the rim of the cup, shrink it a little then extrude it down into the cup in face-loop sections, reducing the size as you go.

I say leave it how it is. It adds to the detail of the cup.
