Fafnir

I sculpted Fafnir (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fafnir) as part of a larger scene I’m working on and went ahead with an individual render of him.

  • Sculpted in Zbrush
  • Textured in Substance Painter
  • Rendered in Blender 2.9 using Eevee, default samples. It has quite a few lights to highlight different parts. I’m amazed by how powerful Eevee can be. It looked better than Cycles for this specific scene and it took just a few seconds to render.
  • Sculpt was around 16 m polys but after baking normals, the final scene in Blender had just 83 k.

Whoops, I forgot to add the link!

Thanks a lot, Bart!

He looks great! The color and environment in the main render have some nice “Viking ship figurehead” vibes too.

You’re right! Looks like it could be a ship’s head if it was stylized.
