Famous Poses. Do you recognise them?

How well artists in Blenderartists knows traditional artists and their works?

Bigger version

I made few poses that are very well know in art. I used Mancandy-character. You can find him here.

Actually, this kind of study of poses is fun and you can learn things about art history, for example.

Who knows them all? :stuck_out_tongue:

A. Discobolus - Myron (with incorrectly restored head)
B. ?? EDIT: Laocoƶn Group - Agesander, Athenodoros and Polydorus ??
C. Mona Lisa - da Vinci
D. The Scream - Munch
E. The Thinker - Rodin
F. The Birth of Venus - Botticelli

Very nicely done.

Isnā€™t B a micheangelo sculpture.

edit: ah google - This sculture

Man, thatĀ“s a funny Idea. The Poses are nearly perfect. I wanna see more of this. You could make a permanent Quiz with this (if you donĀ“t have allready, IĀ“m new here)ā€¦

Thanks for comments!

I thought that B would be hardā€¦ but no, Sago got them all! (art education perhaps?)

I must say that this was fun thing to do. I just started to learn rig things and Mancandy is such a nice rig.

where is david?

nice job.
Jacco;

Yes, David was missing

Accademia Museum, Florence, Italy. Oh! You mean the pose. One post up.

sorry for the late post- just found this thread, wanted to say awesome poses  nice to see mancandy treated with this kind of respect.

Okay, maybe a stupid question, but what the hell: is that model usable by other people? Like are you will to give it to us for use?

I was under the impression it was one of the free rigged models somebody gave out, like the ludwig one.

yup, mancandy is free to use, I think heā€™s still living on the orange website in the current incarnation- Iā€™ve got an improved version in the works that Iā€™ll release when blender 2.43 comes out (depends on new features in cvs, that might change from day to day)
heā€™s pretty much ā€œpublic domainā€ in the version thatā€™s out there, though I might use a creative commons license for the next one (Iā€™ll use a permissive one that lets you do anything)
lastly, if you use him for anything big, feel free to give me credit  Iā€™m always looking for jobs, so publicity isnā€™t a bad thingā€¦
EDIT: here ya go: linky

Glad you liked those!

I presumed that everyone knows whoā€™s creation Mancandy is thatā€™s why I did not mention the origin of the character :o. I added the link in my fist post for ignorant ones

Thanks for the great rig!

The thinkerā€™s elbow should cross over to the opposite knee, making his body torque more. Overall fun to play the guessing game on the poses. I had a hard time with the Laocoon, it would be cool to see it with all three figures.

I love the Mancandy model. Nice job here.

hey check out this post on blendernation.

Something a bit more recent

Absolutely no idea but the Botticelli is almost perfect.
Well done,
