Lots of times a mechanical object will have sharp edges in a CG render, but what if you want to take off that hard edge and don’t want tons of extra geometry? What if the edge highlight caused by a bevel could be a simple rendering trick?

Or if it could be a modifier, it could be applied on rendertime and not visible in 3d view. Would that be possible?
Conz3D was working on a interesting script for this, don’t know if he finished it though.
