Figured out some additional lighting techniques ^^
I’m going slow
so that I can understand what is needed to be done as early as possible
Ran into an issue where the game engine slows down a lot. Close blender, reopen and it speeds back up again. It might have something to do with all the alpha planes. The poly count is low. 6000 tris so far. I don’t think poly count will go much higher than 12000 in any particular scene.
Well~ sad face I’m not sure what the issue is but if I take the poly count up to 1600 faces the frame rate begins to chug. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong or what the bottleneck is. Or maybe some of my hardware is starting to fail on me. I’ll look into it but if someone has any thoughts on it. Please share.
Terrain is 4k x 4k.
Tree bark is 1k x 1k
vegetation is 512 x 512
I had a wierd issue with 2.49 where the rasterizer started choking – even in wireframe mode.
Also are you using texture stencils for the ground? It looks great, but I think you could get the same look with a couple of 512 tiled textures and a texture stencil.
realy amzing work, have to agree that the grass :doesn’t fit" but that might be what your going for because i notice it in the trees too. i would love to see how this develops
Geez. Whenever I start one of these game projects it always humbles me a lot. Cuz I think to myself before, “Now I know enough to make a little game”. But then I start to figure out that there’s a lot more that I don’t know.
Consequently I’ve been spending most of my time exploring 3dCoat. And hardly any in blender. So there isn’t any game per say. But I decided on a couple of things.
I should start a character.
Completely change the environment that I was showing before.
Well, I already posted this on 3dCoat forum I post here for anyone to criticize: she’s still rough sketch and not at the final sculpting resolution yet. Right now just want to know if you have advice.
Possibly the protagonist of this game. She may or may not be human. Anyway the game is going to be very small. Probably just one human and a 3-4 monsters. Try to do the best job of that that I can.
