Hi, I copied my .blend file in another computer but when I tried to open it the program gives me the error “File format not supported in file [path]”.
Then I tried to open the .blend1 file and it worked correctly.
The version I used is 2.73 and the version in the other computer is 2.71.
Fortunately I’ve modified just few things from version .blend1 to .blend so for now it’s not a big problem, but why does Blender give this error? It may be the different version, even if they’re both 2.7* ? Or may the problem be the path memorized in the file (but then why would it open the .blend1?)?
You could try appending everything from the blend file into a new blend file.
Open a new file and use Shift+F1 and browse to the suspect blend file, and select everything you want to append

Thank you so much.
But why does Blender give this problem? I’ve seen that I’m not the only one that had to face this… it’s a bit annoying :\
File could have become corrupted during saving
When you open blender there is an option to recover last session, this may or may not be of any use but only if you haven’t opened another blend file in the meantime
