Files supported by Blender?

Hi,

I’m am new to the forum, and am only really trying to find out if blender will work for what I need to do right now.

I need to do some basic renderings of a 3D solidmodel for a parttime job that I have. Unfortunately the only 3D file format that they currently have is *.easm. The eDrawing software will save it as *.bmp, *.tif, *.jpg, *.png, *gif, which would be usable, but would limit what I could do with the images. I was wondering if Blender will open *.easm files? I tried to do a search but the only thing that was found didn’t seem to have much to do with my question.

Thanks for any help

No Blender can’t handle .easm.

.easm is holidng prametric solids, Blender uses meshbased objects.

However .easm should be a Solidworks format and you should be able to save it from the software where it was created as VRML or better as STL file, which are mesh formats and Blender can import them.
If the tool can’t export it, there are convertors for that kind of job but they are not cheap. Usually pretty much every parametric solid software comes either with an exporter or converter to a meshbased format.
