Final Render showing mesh grid on object...not smooth

Hi friends,

After setting up a final render Ice cube showing choppy grid.
Don’t know what I’m doing wrong, is it the material or the object faces!! Not able to figure it out!

I’m I missing something!

Please note:

  1. These are Rigid body Objects
  2. Shade Smooth is ON
  3. No problem in face orientation
  4. It is sculpted

Thanks in Advance!

No modifiers change the mesh topology? Can you share a file?

Bump or displacement in the material settings can cause this - do you have any setup?

Its auto smooth probably.

Hi @Magnavis

Yes, I think it is due to BUMP MAP.

When I remove BUMP node, the makes the surface smooth.

Attaching below the material setup.

Thanks for feedback!

@Sworly

I think its a BUMP map I added with noise texture.

When I remove it, the problem resolves!

Below is the screenshot of material setup.

Thanks for feedback!

You made a mistake. The shaders belong into the height port, not the normal port.
If you plug them into normal as you did, you’re modifying the shading normal in an uncontrollable way since theys aren’t really compatible out of the box (without going innto technical detail here)

Problem resolved.

As suggested by @mp5gosu, I changed the shader connection to height port, which is earlier I attached to normal port, which is creating the problem.

Thanks all for helping out!
