Kicking off the year with something new! I had a lot of fun modeling this fire hydrant in Blender and texturing it in Substance Painter. Working with cylinders while keeping an all-quad topology has always been a challenge for me, so this was a great practice piece.
Similar results can be achieved in Blender for sure, but the process would require a lot of hand painted maps and materials. The workflow Substance is easier since you can use smart materials and masks, which make the texturing quite fun. I typically use Substance for more complex scenes and where better control on the textures is essential.
