First attempt at animation in Blender

Just a little project I did to learn how animation in Blender works (And to vent a little frustration  ).

Keep it up, a great start! I think some sound would take it to another level.

First of all … I absolutely agree(!!) with your comment about: “ruined Star Wars!”

Now: as to this animation, a lot of the things are very good. The models, the lighting, the chrome and sun highlights, the shadows, materials and textures. You’ve obviously poured a lot of attention into this, and it shows.

You can now, if you like, now go on to replace the “stand-in moves,” like the present “flying R2-D2,” with something else. As you are “refining and perfecting” an animation, some details purposely are made to wait a bit. They’re understood for now to be “stand-ins” – perhaps now accurate only as to scene timing – and they are systematically replaced.
