First Blender Post - Pottery Museum

Greetings Blenders,

This is my first post. My desire is to make a pottery museum. Please don’t ask me why! Anyway, this is my first blend post of the museum. I started with basic terra cotta pottery and the background is a photo, not a blend. Ok, I need to figure out more about lights to get better shadows and things. Plus I need to figure out how to make the camera better to get less distortion in the pottery, like in the one on the left.

Thank you for looking.

It took way more time than I would have thought to build the walls. I still have to figure out the lights too. Eventually I’d like to be able to use the game engine to make it walkable. Don’t know if I can use the same procedure (?) textures and materials or have to go to something else. I like the terra cotta and the terrazzo floor. Once I get the basic building set I’ll get on to glazes and other ceramic finishes. Thank you.

In lighting this set of models, a
setup with Spot lights in front of
and above or below each pottery
piece would be a nice start, then
enabling Ambient Occlusion(AO)
with a factor of about 0.50 produces
a nice result with the default
internal renderer.

After that you have many options
for experimenting with Gather types
and settings for both the AO and
spot colours, etc…

Thanks for the tips, Simon, gives me somewhere to start…
