First Blender Works (New Images)

Looks amazing!!! The only thing that is bothering me is that his skin looks like wax.

Thanks Nebular, as you can see from the sketches, he is a character I’ve had on my mind a little while.
I have used Imagine from Impulse ( no longer in business), Animation Master from Hash, and now, Blender…I have also tried out the learning Editions of Maya and Lightwave.

Thanks. The waxy look… I need to experiment with the SSS settings. Is there a way to make the effect dependent upon the angle of the normal to the camera? As in the effect be more pronounced as the angle increases and less as the angle decreases?

Added a few more details…

It looks really promising, what kind of texturing are you going to use?

haha, wow, this is fantastic. You truly got skill

I’m going to use UV maps, as soon as I am able to figure out the UV editor, I’ve got a few ideas brewing.:eyebrowlift2:

Thanks, Framedworld !

Not quite what i meant, although i am glad you will be using UV textures but what are the textures going to be like, what are you going to make him look like? Leathery, stony, icy, slimey or something else?

Oh, sorry i thought you meant …well nevermind…I think the skin will be sweaty and dirty, but regular human skin. I’d like to add hair to the arms, legs, chest areas, but I think I’m going to try some overlapping polys with painted hairs as opposed to using particles. Of course bulging veins are a must. The belt and codpiece will be leather like, and I think I’ll keep the particle fur for the “skirt” area around the bottom of the belt. I may experiment with photographic skin maps, as a friend has suggested to me the other day.
When I get a little more time I’m gonna rig and animate him so I’m trying to balance complexity with economy to keep the rendering times down.

yeah… i like the jumping guy!

i wish i could model like you do

Thanks garuhh!!
I had a couple of hours this week so I added a few essentials like teeth and shoes…
I’m just about finished with the mesh. I think I want to add a few metalplates to the belt and forearm guards, and then be done. Then, on to texturing and boning…
