First Human Head Sculpt - looking for advice

I’ve been watching the topology tutorials on blendercookie and had to try it out. This is a single layer sss with a couple procedural textures running the normals - with eyes thrown in at the last minute. What I’m really wanting feedback on is the face itself. I wouldn’t ask, but I feel that something’s off and I just can’t put my finger on it. Thanks!

first impressions is that you should open up the right eye some more, and the left eye brow looks off… as well as the upper eyelid. wrinkling the brow up/ lowering it a little maybe. hope that’s at least a little helpful. cheers and good work!

Quite a good start. I think the area between the cheek and the mouth should be further in relative to the bones. Either push that area in or the cheek bones out.
You could also emphasize the upper eyelids more.
Otherwise I do not know what could make you feel this is off, it is full of personality…

Thanks guys, I don’t actually have a rig for this guy yet, that expression up there was just a quickie. I decided that the facial features themselves were too large. I shrunk the features and adjusted the rest of the head around it. I think that helped what you were talking about yoff. That’s what I get for taking reference images from the real world (perspective), modeling straight from them in orthographic and then rendering that out in perspective. Anyway, I still don’t have a normal map, but here’s the same guy, drastically remodeled ( with my first shot at hand-painted triple layer SSS to “flesh” him out a bit. He sure looks creepy with those temporary eyes…

I did a quick orbit video of the face today to get a better look at the texturing -
