Fixing the bright white sheen on glass or reflective materials

Putting this one out the the blenderians.

I’m going through Grant Abbitt’s neat tutorial for the sea shack, and I’m struggling with glass and refraction. I have almost got it… (I think), but want to know what I need to do to remove that highly reflective sheen that is in this test image. Note that I’ve tried using roughness and fresnel to remove it, as well as mixing a glossy shader, and it’s had no effect. I want to remove that bright white sheen on the sides of the image. My nodes for the water is pretty basic, (see attached).

I think your material is behaving correctly, it’s your lighting/environment you need to look at. The water is only reflecting what you have around it.

If you want to fudge it, you could of course just use a plain refraction shader on the sides of your water. This wont reflect anything, but will still refract like water (assuming you set the same IOR)

Thanks for your feedback. I actually worked on reducing light strength and positioning which seem to resolve the problem.
