Have you set textures to non-color data?
hm, can you DM me the blend file, so that I can look at this?
I don’t think I can send a DM from this account yet (just made it, seems to be restricted for new users). I sent you a DM on BlenderMarket but if you’d prefer email or another platform let me know.
Oh, to add wrinkles you don’t need folds modifier. You can mix normal maps by tension map like in demo material:
Oh interesting, I hadn’t actually looked at the normal map version. Assumed it’d be a pain to blend with the existing normals but this looks pretty simple. Does the normal map version retain the original normal map data? If so this should work fine so I’ll give it a try in a bit, thanks!
I’ve looked at your file, and it looks like the issue is using EXR instead PNG. Changing EXR to non-color data has no effect, because it is already in raw. So I have no other walk around but to set Texture offset to 0.214.
For about normal map version. The principle is simple. It mixes 3 normal maps by the tension map.
It looks like a bug for me, so I have reported it:
Walk around is to save the image on disk, instead of packing.
Hello there, i come here from youtube.
im trying to get the folds working on this mesh. the character is 1.8m big and the scale is applied.
the folds modifier makes the mesh puffy but doesnt do much more than that.
i made the folds map with sculpting then baking it to a displacement map.
what could i be missing?
super looking forward to this btw, the functionality is super promising
Hello!
Sorry for late reply - I have missed the message…
Start with disabling Normal Puff (0.01 - is to much, set 0 for now)
Then enable material preview and set “Enable” in preview debug.
If everything is black - make Base Edge Distance smaller:
All good, thank you for taking the time:
ok, i followed the steps you said. the baseedge distance is set to 0 but its still black
No, it should be more than 0. Basically, it is the size of a typical edge in your model.
But in your screenshot it is black because your model in the rest pose. In rest pose, there are no deformations, so that tension map is zero. Tension map works if your model deformed by armature, shape key or any other deform modifier.
-the tension map is up and running and the base edge distance is set.
-i set a pose to bring in some deformation
-the texture i made is for constriction folds (could it be a little to light?)
- i turned the preview mode off but still no deformation based on the constriction fold texture?
From my perspective, everything is ok. Does changing “Effect scale” do something? Can you DM me the source file (only cloth, pack Folds Displacement texture into file), so I can take a look?
For whom it may concern, The issue was in the wrong name in UVmap setting. So if you have a non-default UV name, make sure that you entered it in modifier settings.
