Force Field Rotation Does Not Affect Particles?

Hello All,

I have this scene which is made up of 40 particle systems. For now each particle system shares the same particle settings. The particle system generates one particle deploying a group. In this scene the group contains one font object, “word”. The particle is born on frame 1 and lives forever so it is always in the scene. It is not affected by gravity and has no initial velocity. A wall of words just hanging there.

Now I add two empties to the scene and turn on the force field for each one. Using the force type, for each empty, I set one empty to affect location only and the other one to affect rotation only.

The empty with location enabled easily knocks objects around and out of the way. But it seems like the rotation has no effect. This BLEND file is all setup if anyone has time to take a look.

Can the force field affect the rotation of particles?

Using Blender 2.6.1 r43747

it worked for me in an old build ticking the dynamic rotation check…

Do you mean the Dynamic Rotation in the particle system settings? If so, I tried that on the above mentioned build on Windows and the official 2.6.1 release for OSX (r42614). what version are you using that still works?

I get nothing on top until i check location for the rotation field. Turning on dynamic rotation on the particle system had no effect.
xp 32 r43742

I mean a very old one, tried it on a 2.54 I had :stuck_out_tongue:
It works with rotation checked in forcefield and dynamic in particle system…
seems like it broke at some moment

Thanks for checking it out, I guess it became broken at some point.
