Hi everyone!
While using UE to Rigify to transfer Unreal Engine character animations to Rigify, I ran into errors caused by Blender 5’s animation API changes. I’ve repaired and updated the add-on and published it as a standalone open-source repository.
GitHub:
The main fixes include:
- Compatibility with the removal of
Action.fcurvesin Blender 5. - Proper Action slot and NLA slot assignment and curve access.
- Updated pose-bone selection for Blender 5.
- A fix for duplicated root motion caused by baking Rigify’s internal mechanism and deform bones alongside its controls.
The workflow has been tested in Blender 5.2.2 LTS, using a 90-bone UEFN mannequin with a 77-frame animation, including conversion to Rigify and baking back to the source skeleton. Other character templates and older Blender versions have not yet been tested.
The repository includes the complete source code, an installable ZIP in the dist folder, English/Chinese documentation, and test results. The add-on appears as UE to Rigify (Blender 5 Repair) after installation. Please back up your project and install it as a replacement for the original add-on.
This is an unofficial repair based on UE to Rigify 1.7.6 from poly-hammer/BlenderTools. The original tool was developed by Epic Games. Original author credits, templates, and the MIT license are retained. This repair build is identified as version 1.7.7.
Hopefully this helps anyone who wants to bring UE animations into Rigify for further editing. Feedback, bug reports, and contributions are welcome!
