This is not a F1 entry because It uses a canopy, which is not allowed in the competition. Oh well, I never intended to enter it even before I read the rules…
Anyway, I’ve been working on this over my school holidays. I call it the FZ, or Formula Zero, because The lower formula it is, the better performance of the car (Formula one) and zero is lower than one…
The render with the three spotlights is the oldest, while the one with the bad road texture and thinning grass is newer. I have improved both these problems, but I am having a problem that I have not dealt with before called “Extremely slow rendering in Yafray”. The final attachment is a screenshot of what it looks like in Blender at the moment.
C&C welcome, what do you think? This is my second project after my space shuttle which is on “temporary hold” until I can be bothered trying to understand nodes and the bloom effect. If you want to give me advice, feel welcome but place your comments in my other thread. Ahh, I should just be quiet…
What i’m trying to say is, don’t expect anything fantastic, I’m still a complete noob. My best effort yet though.
That looks cool, the car texture seems a bit boring though, maybe give it a little shine.
you mentioned the grass and road yourself, so I only want to wish you good luck!
It looks like a nice car design, but I would suggest maybe placing some more light sources in your scene, so we can see your car better. I like the angles of your shots, and I also like the detail you took on making your car parts. I’d point out that in the last set of shots, it looked like a few places could use autosmooth enabled.
Very good effort so far, and I hope to see more. Keep it up!!
Heh heh… I’m halfway through a render at the moment and I noticed the underside of my streetlamps are so reflective you can easily see the grass in them. Need some sort of transparent cover, will come later. Small muck-up, something to laugh about.
OK, to my suprise and dissapointment the shadows didn’t appear on this render, but I am working on it! Any reasons why this is happening would be appreciated. Shadow is turned on in the render menu.
Also, the new orange canopy is now white again (next render) and there is a FZero texture on the rear wing.
C&C still welcome, open fire.
EDIT: Problem solved, ray shadow now enabled on the lights. Stop panicking.
At the moment there are multiple lights because there are multiple streetlamps. This will be swapped with a more simplistic design later, when my track is completed.
The track has the same texture as the road in my previous render and the big plane is sand… the ripple strip is self-explanatory.
Looks really cool! Nice attention to detail, and materials look pretty good. I would possibly raise the ‘hard’ a bit on those car materials though, and it looks too ‘plasticy’.
sex it up with some crazy aerodynamic wings, if you look at current formula 1 cars you should see to the sides that they have all sorts of fins, and wings.
One very overdue update. Spent most of it on the tunnel. Actually, all of it on the tunnel. Also a Yafray render, which would need a lot of work. Please give your opinion to which would be better suited.
Also, as a matter of interest, would I post a WIP game/physics project in this forum or the game engine one? I’ve been working with the physics engine to create a thing where a ball runs down a series of chutes, around bends, corners, up and down loops etc… I need a lot of help and don’t know where to ask.:spin: :spin: :spin: :spin:
