Generate vertex groups from bones?

So suppose I’ve added an armature modifier to a mesh, and I now want to assign vertex groups. So I need a vertex group for each bone.

Right now, my process is:
Click plus to make new Vertex Group.
Type in the name for the vertex group that corresponds with a bone in the armature.
Repeat for every single bone in the armature.

I assume there has to be something that will do this automatically. Create a vertex group for every bone, with a matching name. What am I missing?

That seems like overkill. Is there anything for just generating vertex groups from bones?

Edit: the “overkill” comment was about Rigify. The parenting seems like the scale of what I was looking for.
