The 2nd episode of Season 2 of ‘Free Script Series’ covering the new “GeoCables” Addon is out now! You can check out the video here:
What is GeoCables Addon?
GeoCables is a free Blender Addon that allows you to generate procedural hanging cables by using Geometry Nodes.
The core of the addon is Geometry Nodes but the addon makes it much more convenient by offering functions like Drawing in the Object mode by simply clicking on surfaces or converting objects to cables.
V1.0.1 released!
Fixed a crash that happened when switching to Cycles Render Engine.
So if you got version 1.0.0 please update it.
Also do let me know if you face any other issue with the addon and I will try to fix it ASAP.
V1.0.2 released!
It fixes a bug where applying the the geometry nodes modifier would delete the connectors.
If anyone is any other issues please do mention them here.
V1.0.3 Released.
It fixes the normals issue as mentioned above.
It also fixes the issue where the addon was creating unnecessary ‘Geometry Nodes’ Node trees.
Just noticed a major bug. All the cables created have a duplicate overlapping cable which makes the tris count double of what it needs to be.
Will be releasing a fix very soon.
I would love for a “auto wind swaying” function. This doesn’t need to be actually physically based, it can be a very simple noise-based or sine-wave based slight movement that simulates the cables gently swaying in the wind. To me this would be incredibly useful for animated content.
Thank you, I think that’s cool. But if you might consider adding such a function as part of the plug-in and the geo-nodes structure, it might allow for some non-uniform variation between the individual cables (for instance if a cable were to be more dense than another cable it might sway differently). But either way this is useful. Thanks!
One of the users today faced a weird bug where some of the nodes in the geometry node tree were displayed as undefined. Did anyone else also face this issue?
