Geometry Nodes - Cylinder without end caps + setting Auto Smooth angle?

Hi.

Is it possible to somehow create cylinder primitive in Geometry Nodes without end caps?

Also, is it possible to set Auto Smooth angle inside Geometry Nodes graph, as the resulting mesh doesn’t seem to be using object’s Auto Smooth settings.

No caps.

I dont think theres anyway to set autosmooth yet from geonodes, maybe try a driver from a value node?

Set the Fill Type of the Cylinder to None, and then use a Set Shade Smooth node

I swear I did check that dropdown at some point, but somehow I guess I forgot it! :sweat_smile:

Anyway, Auto Smooth setting would be nice as if you have those end caps, Set Shade Smooth will create ugly shading as there is no control for it.

You can split edges, but so far there’s no way to split the normals without affecting the geometry as far as I know.
