Geometry nodes: Smooth vertex alpha transition?

Hi!

I recently briefly touched on how to make smooth transition of vertex color’s alpha channel on meshes made from curves, but I still don’t understand it much, so I’d really appreciate a help here!

Now I’m trying to simply make vertex color everywhere, except outer edges. Those shouldn’t have any color at all and the result should look like the outer edges simply fade away.

This has to be done via Geometry nodes as I work with procedural modelling tool and the final mesh is to be used in a game engine.
