With Blender 4.2 and Eevee Next, does this mean there’s now a way to have the Emission Shader function as a light source in Eevee? Or are light probes still necessary for that? Enabling Ray-Tracing seems to disable Baked Lighting
The new raytracing is only screen space, so it’s not a real way to get emission, except maybe as a way to get a bit of localized light around small light sources.
Raytracing doesn’t disable baked probes, the 2 work together, with the probe being more or less visible depending on the raytracing settings. Just don’t expect baked light to have lots of detail or accurate shadows, you will still get much better lighting by using a real light object in addition to the emissive mesh where possible.
