hello, im trying to work with 4096x4096 texture files, but when ever i try and save these as compressed gimp format - the .xjt format - i get unbelievable file sizes and my computer grinds to a halt and takes me 20 mins to save everything and shut down, then restart and delete it…
its happened a few times now so i can be sure it wasn’t a screw up with one file, these are brand new files, saved out of blender as .svg vectors, loaded into gimp at 4k and then saved as .xjt have a look at my screendump if you want,… thats a 50GB file… and ive also had a 98GB file… last week…
i have gimp 2.6.4 and blender 2.49.2 on a imac core 2 duo 2.4 with 1GB ram.
actually, i’ll post this but im getting the newest stable gimp now… for posterity i guess.
