Hi everyone. This is my first post here so i’ll go ahead and make it a question.
I’ve just started modeling again after 10 years of absens. I’m just playing around with different materials, lights and such atm. What im trying to do is a glass marble, as seen in the picture below.
I’ve figured out how to make the marble lookg glassy, as can bee seen in the pic. But i dont know how to make the marble emit a “hot spot”. The kind you get when focusing light with a magnefying glass. After googleing for a while i came across Ray Transparency on blenders page.
The Marble is a mesh hovering with Transparency on using raytracing and a depth of 10.
3 planes set on the side of the marble and set to cath shadows and transparent shadows.
1 Spotlight shining brightly from the left side of the marble, ray shadow is set on.
Also im using The latest beta version of Blender 2.5 so it could be why i cant figure it out.
but sorry blender internal dosent support caustics. if u want then u can use yafaray.
also i wonder why r u using a depth of 10 pretty useless for ur simple scene.
u may also like to inrease sample of ur light and turn on AO and maybe some more settings that ur scene looks cooler.
Thx. Yafray doesnt support 2.5x according to the main page
I still dont understand some of the settings to the full extent and i just wanted to save some rendering time, that’s why i didnt crank up with ambient lightning.
u can download the blender 2.56 build with yafaray support if u google it.
if u want i cud help u with whatever option u dont understand :). just pm me or add me on skype.
Luxrender is very slow i dont prefer to use it.it will always leave some noise no matter how long u run it.(unless ur using small gpu version) Blender internal is a very nice renderer and quite fast too. So it is better to stick to blender internal and yafaray.
