Glass texture (transparency over transparency)

Hey guys,

The picture below should sum up what my problem is. For one thing: why is there a solid shadow on a transparent material tube? (double sided). Basically. How do I make the entire thing a nice clear glass tube. I tried settings found on blender wiki amongst other things and am entirely at a loss (the tube is supposed to be broken).

Thanks,
-Jake

how many light sources do you have?
this can create shadows behind the object !

did you crank up the Depht value - if you have double glass tickness it need to be higher
check the wiki page on glass for the settings

I have one Spot light using Blender engine. Should I not have this?

As you can see, I’ve made some progress - but it now looks like plastic, and the edges of the broken glass are not defined. I added the depth value, but it adds nothing. By depth, do you mean Ray Mirror or Ray Transp?

Thanks!

can you show a wiremesh also
might be easier to see or may be upload file on FTP
so can study it

the shadow is trange

You have to check transparent shadow for the wall and ground.

Select the background object. On the shading panel (f5) / shader/Enable TraShad.

Try removing traceable from the render pipeline of the material
