just wondering if blender can manage the glowing properties of acrylic (refractive, like fibre optics) or will yafray be the only viable option?
Remember, anything can be faked with the right amount of artistry. But if you are looking for physically accurate calculations from the renderer, your best bet lies outside of Blender.

i am pretty shure a phycisl correct fx is not in blender.
i think also yafray cannot render something like this.
the effect is pretty similar to sss.
