C&C are welcome
You are doing good for first project.
You should add detail to fins, eyes and mouth. Some bubbles would be cool too.
The body texture is great.
Keep it up.
Thx
the fins and the bubbles will have to wait …because I studied only a 1/4 of the blender guide
Excellent, especially for someone new to blender. The textures and materials are very well done.
Here is some advice:
To change the blue background, select the camera go to the materials window. Then change the RGB sliders. You can even add an image or a texture, just set the texture to affect ‘Hori’ to get a result.
Also, could you perhaps make a smaller render, considering that most of your image is empty space? This will stop the people unlucky enough to be on a smaller monitor (like me :() having to scroll.
Bubbles are easy, just make spheres and give them 0 alpha with ray transparency and change the IOR to make them refract whats behind them.
I hope I haven’t pointed out things you already know, I just don’t know what you know and what you don’t.
Apart from that, great work, and I can’t wait to see more of this!
Thx for the tips
I’ll get back to work … :o
For know here is the 3d model made with 3DNP
Heret (the first link)
Nice addons. The background is not on the par with the model. Perhaps a more toony style would suit better? A glass bowl or something like that?
I encourage you to play with the camera. Jaws -style image would rock imo. -> Put the camera near the head so that the goldfish fills most of the pic. Use big lens (60? mm > perhaps). You can find this in the camera settings. Editing/Camera/Lens.

Pretty. I’d try working the eye into the head a little more though. And put more spec on it, perhaps use the WardIso shader.
The scale texture is very good, but I’m not a fan of the two color division. Just doesn’t look right slanted like that, shouldn’t it just follow the belly?.. though I’ll admit to not being an expert on goldfish.
Thx for the C&C , here is a new setup for the goldfish , and some fixez …
Keep C&C (I know about the refrections on the sides of the bowl , and the fact that the bowl seems to float , but I don’t know how to fix them %| )
the gravel looks too shiny, even if it is water, the rocks are usually very porus and give little in the way of spectral shine. Looking really cool though. Maybe a treasure chest with a bubble maker in it?
