GPU volumetric rendering slow

I have a nvidia geforce gtx 960m gpu in my laptop. Although it is a fast graphics card, it is not rendering volumetrics quickly. In some cases it is slower than my i7 6700hq processor. Can someone offer some suggestions about how to get my gpu up to speed.

gtx960M: A laptop-class GPU. These GPUs are optimized for battery consumption, not for power. It is no wonder it is slower than your i7.

I’m afraid you can do nothing about it. You got a good CPU, though. Abuse it. ;).

Thank’s. I was actually doing some more rendering and sometimes the GPU can be faster than the CPU with volumetrics.
