grass field: some particles display texture, others don't

I’m rendering a grass field. The first material of the emitter is solid black and the second has a grass-like color ramp. I have the emitter set to render particles with Matierial 2. When I render, I get this:

Strips of grass render correctly and the rest appear to be white dots… What is causing this?

Is your texture mapping coordinate set to Strand/Particle? If not, I suspect this is the source of your problem.

It is set to strand render.
