I love the grease pencil, but I’m not particularly impressed with the image tracing features. I expected to see better improvements, as some key functionalities seemed to be missing.
After tracing the image, I tested it in edit and sculpt modes, but the grease mesh moved quite sluggishly.
Also, What’s the hey? There’s an issue with the process; I click on “Convert style,” and it doesn’t function like a standard grease mesh. I noticed that there’s no ray line with vertices.
When I attempted to erase the traced grease mesh, it didn’t completely disappear.
That’s my main Complain. I appreciate tracing because it eliminates the need to redraw repeatedly, making it useful for creating sheet models or detailed backgrounds. I really hope you can address these issues.
Well, it looks really good to me even though I get your point.
The algorithm can’t tell if it deals with lines or flat surface. As the input can be anything…
First step would be to make sure that this technology is available, if another FOSS can trace and recreate those line weights, then maybe there is hope.
Keep in mind though that the solution needs to work outside your use case too.
It’s also worth looking for actual technical papers and maybe there is something out there that can be a starting point. However I’m not sure this could be seen as a priority for blender , you might have better chances with developing an addon or buying one.
But first step is to make sure this problem can be actually solved, do you know any FOSS or commercial software that would work in a better way ?
