I just cannot get the order of display bushes and roses, which one is behind and which one is in front, right, using Blender 3.5. This is what I got on my screen, the roses are behind the bushes, not in front:
I am confused by the order of things and I suddenly realised that it was me who was confused. In 3D space, you work out the order of visibility based on the distance to the camera. Here I have two grease pencil objects which resides at the same location to the camera, and that’s where the confusion came from. I just need to move the object roses to the front (relatives to the active camera) and I will have it displayed in the front. The layer system and (front/back) arrangements are only useful in the drawing objects, that is within one grease pencil object. Outside of it, at the 3D space (Outliner), you will have to realise the distance to the camera decides which is at the front, and which is at the back. I moved roses grease pencil object to front and I have what I wanted.
