Grease Pencil without any drawing experience, brush textures

(The background photo is not my work, just composited by me.)

I have no artistic ability outside of 3d modeling, so I am impressed with how easy grease pencil made it to digitally draw as opposed to other 2d programs (for me.)

I realize that you can put textures onto brush strokes, but it is mapped on in a way that seems to draw the stroke and then apply the texture. I was wondering if it is possible to use custom brush strokes using textures like it is with Gimp or Photoshop, so that the ends of strokes will show the effect also. If I am explaining this badly, please let me know so I can elaborate.

I think not, because grease pencil lines are vectors, and as such they can’t have the complexity of a brush texture… as far as I know. Developers may have plans for this, I don’t know.

It’s not currently possible, but it is technically possible to implement it. Each brush would have to have a special Start and End texture which follows the stroke.

When combined, it forms the complete stroke, like so:

Actualy we can use textures in brushes. But only single texture. Not layered or series of textures atleast for now

That’s a great idea. Is it currently possible to use a texture as pattern for a grease pencil stroke/layer ?

Yes, but there’s no way to do the start/end stuff, so far.

This woudl be similar to the end caps of the array modifier…
