I like the bump on the tiles, good job
but I haven’t been in a hotel with a bathroom that clean before…
…I have stayed in a few that had a tenticled monster thou
I like it, especially since I’m a huge fan of tentacles too
(Well, I’m speaking of the ability to do them with Blender’s tools, I just love curve deform… ).
But while we’re at it, the tentacle, or rather its material, is just way too sharp. It really looks awkward. And, as someone mentioned before, I’m not sure if the harsh contrast of the clean bathroom and the dirty tentacle works out. The scene would look much more believable with some more dirt everywhere.
Still, overall, it’s great
Ok, so the general consensus is that I should make the rest of the washroom dirtier? I was actually going for a contrast between the ultra-clean room and the alien tentacle. Sorta like…
Really nice! Only crits would be that
a) I didn’t actually realise it was a tenticle. So I suggest making the end of it more like it’s grabbing something.
b) The toilet paper material is too shiney
Thanks for all who commented, cyborg dragon, you brought up a good point, i am going to give UV map a try.
the tenticle was modeled with the array modifier, but I am sure there is a better way to model it that will give me more control?
Cuby, it doesn’t look like a tenticle probably because the material on its body doesn’t FLOW with the curves like cyborg dragon suggested, I’ll try an alternate texture coord and see how it goes. The toilet paper material is fixed in the second update (i think?)
Wow It’s awesome
I have to say is please don’t make it look dirtier, the bathroom looks great. If you want to get the look of that slither poster you just need to add a gradient over it and mess with the lighting to make it more dramatic. Yeah just make it more dramatic and you’ll get the effect you need.
My only crit is with the tentacle, the texture on it doesn’t look very realistic, I knew it was a tentacle the first time I saw it. Just mess with the texture on it, it seems too shiny or something not very organic or meaty.
Yeah, the bathroom is pretty much fine the way it is. Actually, it almost looks photo-real. Nice work there, all around.
The tentacle, though, looks like an after-thought over the photo done by someone just starting with blender. Not very real at all. You can do better for the materials, man. Right now it just looks like you stuck the model in a food processor with a stick of dynamite and some procedurals and pressed frapé
