Hair strands with low segment count look wavy

If I create hair with low segment count, they look wavy, with some bumps. Is there a way to straighten those hairs?

Here are the settings:

Do you have any geo-nodes systems or using custom curves maybe?

It’s the most basic hair particle setup:

It seems you can use B spline in the render panel to smooth them out.:+1:

Good luck, and hopefully that will fix it! :slightly_smiling_face:
Never really seen them do that before, so maybe a bug?

It seems to be fixing that issue, while creating a whole new one, when I hit B-Spline button hairs smooth out including roots and ends, and become floating in the air.

Also, it seems like a standard behavior for hairs. Do you have different results if you replicate what I did in the video above?

Him seems perfectly fixed to my mesh, seems to be a visual bug in particle edit perhaps, as i do have the same problem in particle edit but once I am done editing they snap back to the surface, how about you?

Particle edit.

Outside of particle edit.

I did notice this seems to be a problem in older versions I have used, what version are you using?

I tested 3 versions (3.3, 5.1 and the newest one) and they have all the same issue, BUT it seems like if you set it to interpolated children, then it goes away:

Ah that’s good to know, glad it’s working as intended now!
Good luck on your projects happy blending!
