Hair Texture Part 2

I’m making a part 2 because I’ve learned that its best to ask one question at a time.

I am aware that hair particles use paths to generate hairs. That’s awesome. I am mildly okay at controlling paths when they are standalone… I want to, however, be able to control the path when it is being used as a hair particle. For example, I want to make my hair strand separate from my model and use the particle system to customize exactly how the hair should look.
