Halo(the game) blender ring(YES THE RING)

Hi guys,

I have been recently working on making the halo ring in our favorite program blender. I have made version(tests) 1 and two public if you want to check them out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iARuqwdaCGg.

I still can’t get that awe inspiring look and effect so if someone can point me in the right direction that would be swell. This is what I have up to now(keep in mind this is kinda my first real model): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSESEM753lU&feature=player_embedded.

I also tried to add a giant blue planet but it looks odd. The planet doesn’t look in the distance, its just slammed on the image. This project i really neat because I learned so much in blender and I realized I still have lots to learn. :stuck_out_tongue:

For the past few days I have been making different versions of the “halo ring”(from the game). I finally came to one that I like more but I need some advice on how to composite. It is a preliminary version so I didnt actually do some compositign except mixing things together and the meterials and lights are still a bit off. Anyways, my problem is that I don’t know how to mix the lights(which are on a separate layer) from the outer ring with the image. It comes out with a lot of black points. Really weird:
