Hand and fingers are deforming oddly when curled in rigify

This is using the current build of blender. There is one paid addon, but I doubt it has anything to do with the issue since it’s not influencing this part of the model at all.

This is the hand in rest pose from the top. Some of the finger bones are a little bit off, but I see the same deformation issues regardless of which finger it is. As far as I can tell, the hand is proportioned properly.

This is a view from the bottom front, with curled fingers to test range of movement. There are noticeable gaps between the fingers, and the hand bunches up in the palm. I rotated the fingers in their local x-axis, with the thumb needing rotation in multiple directions if I were to put it into a full fist. It doesn’t do that properly. Thanks, everybody.

I’ve looked these two screenshots a few times, and I don’t see anything wrong with how your fingers are curling up.

Hint:

Straighten the fingers before you curl them so they are touching sideways, then rotate the view so the fingers are “edge on” to the view, then select all finger bones and key R and move cursor. This way they all rotate about an axis normal to your screen, they are all together, because you did this first, and the curl because the rotations are cumulative over the bones on the fingers (they all inherit rotation from their parent), so the end bones rotate more.

Cheers, Clock. :beers:

Just tried that and it showed me the problem. Each is apparently slightly too thin and the joints are slightly forward from where they should be. Thanks.

Edit: Do you know any way to modify rigify rig after it’s been generated? It would take quite a while to redo the rest of it.

Here’s an image of the straightened fingers.
