Having an issue with my bevel not working properly, not sure why

trying to modeling something but I need to bevel my edges…I know how to bevel but for some reason when I add the bevel modifier to the stack it adds the divisions but doesn’t round the edges it keeps everything flat and looks back cause it doesn’t hold any shape. I added some pictures to help and I can add the file (with help, If needed). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try applying scale in object mode. Sometimes when I have similar issues that fixes it. If that doesn’t work, sharing the file is probably the way to go, it’s easier to make suggestions with something to test on.

It also looks like you might be having some normals issues. Have you tried recalcultating those?

Thank you so much it was because i did not apply my scale. As far as the normals I noticed that too when selecting some edges some connected and some did not but could not find any doubles or overlapping issues. If you know how to upload a file on here then I’d be willing to upload it so everyone can look at it.

If it’s a small file, just drag and drop in the reply box. If it’s bigger, a google drive link or similar works.

This is the project file. there are hidden objects the one that is visible is the dup. that I have been testing on.

So, I played around with it a bit, and your bevel amount is set high compared to the object, which is causing that problem. When I lowered it down from 2.56 to 0.26 I got very nearly the same shape without the overlap. The problem appears at 0.27 and higher.
