Having trouble with two different colored particles, colors intersecting


I am having a problem with the weight painting. The blue to red line isn’t fine enough and the two different colors are bleeding over and mixing.

Any ideas? should I make the blue/red areas completely separate objects?

So you don’t want a blend? Personally i’d select the verts in Edit mode and assign them on the Object Data tab, but sometimes you do need to add an extra loop to compensate.

Particles normally grow from faces, but weight painting is done on vertices. The red line is as fine as it can be with the geometry you have created. You might be able to create a sharper distinction by using a texture instead of vertex groups to define hair placement, but otherwise that’s as good as it gets without adding more edge loops.
