HE Mesh testing build #2

A new testing build of HE Mesh!

This one features transparent faces like in the normal mesh, per-face materials support, no orco sorry, better mouseover highlights, and theme support for the mouseover highlights. Also, materials load correctly now for HE mesh.

And a bunch of other things, like a interactive tool “repeater” that repeats the last executed tool or command (VERY useful for extrudes or smoothes (averages).

See http://wiki.blender.org/bin/view.pl/Blenderdev/HeMesh.

----Download----

Windows: http://www.instinctive.de/customer/blender.zip

OSX: http://www.aprilcolo.com/oh/blenders/rebirthmeshblender.zip .

NOTE: Make sure you put the build (plus copy whatever .DLLs it needs) in it’s own folder so it makes its own .b.blend, otherwise you’ll have to manually set the mouseover highlight theme colors (will fix this in later build). Plus in some tests with older .b.blends all hemeshes turned black.

----Notes-----

  • Collapse vert now handled incident verts correctly (e.g. the whole two pyramids on top of each other thing).

  • Smooth (averaging, WKEY->smooth command) implemented.

  • Smooth subdivide is more catmull-clark-ish, in that it just subdivides then averages (unlike method used by normal mesh).

  • Tool Repeater.

  • Individual Face Extrude

  • Bridge tool, although needs more work to make correct “bridge” 100% of the time.

  • You can flip all normals though WKEY->flip normals. Will later implement a Flip All Linked Normals tool.

–Credits—

  • Ton, for writing the editmesh code and, more importantly, it’s user interface, which I’ve borrowed heavily from for HE mesh.

  • JLuc Peuriere, for pointing me in the right direction so I didn’t run this project into the ground.

  • intrr, for hosting the windows build.

  • tripdragon/zippy for building the OSX build, and hosting it.

  • um, others I’m sure

/me dances around like a little school girl with delight, sees that people are watching and scuttles away in shame.

extruding feels very strange.
there are two dotted lines, and it’s not very clear which way I should pull… seems to go backwards many times…
