Hi im new to all of this modeling stuff. I have been a graphic designer for years but this is my first venture into the 3d world. I looked at tutorials and they don’t seem to be helping me. I am working on a 3d model of my son for a series of pictures for his bedroom as a birthday present but i seem to be stuck. My beginning face loops are stumping me. i know the images are slightly off but should my profile and front face loops be that off? The profile looks fine but not the front. Any assistance would be welcomed to help point me in the right direction. Thanks all.
I believe in this case the reference images may be causing you more grief than the modeling.
I agree with place57, you would have easier time with better references in the background.
Even good references need some work and compensating for some differences is always needed, but it’s very hard to work with mix match images.
An example of preparing reference images.
Also, when you are just putting down topology, don’t use so small faces. The purpose is to work with as little as possible and only add when needed. Even 3 faces from bottom of the jaw to forehead is better than 16 because you can cut it and there’s no extra.
That is awesome advice and it looks like i came to the right place to help me learn to be a better 3d artist. I will get 2 new ref images and make sure they are the same size and try it again. The project i am working on is making 3d models of my son as superheroes and having them framed to put in his room.
